The college's research and public service centers annually provide research expertise and educational services to thousands of individuals from hundreds of organizations and agencies. Students work with faculty and staff on virtually all of these efforts, gaining valuable practical experience that complements their academic studies.
Center for Applied Demography & Survey Research
Provides demographic and survey data and information on important public issues to researchers and policymakers at all levels.
Center for Community Research & Service
Assists public, nonprofit and private organizations in Delaware to design, implement, and evaluate policies and programs that address the needs of low and moderate income families and communities related to economic development, housing and social services.
Center for Disabilities Studies
Focuses on improving the quality, quantity, and range of public and private services and supports available in Delaware for individuals with disabilities and their families.
Center for Energy & Environmental Policy
Conducts interdisciplinary research in the areas of sustainable development, technology and society, and the political economy of energy systems and also provides technical assistance to community, government, and nonprofit organizations around the world.
Center for Historic Architecture & Design
Focuses on shaping historic preservation planning and policy, reconstructing historic landscapes, documenting threatened historic properties, and advocating for the preservation of historic resources.
Delaware Center for Teacher Education
Strengthens both pre-service and in-service teacher education, improves access for the education community to the University's teacher education and professional development programs, and supports the state's efforts to enhance teacher education and professional development in line with new state content standards and accountability requirements.
Delaware Education Research & Development Center
Provides information about the conditions and performance of educational systems in the state, professional development opportunities for educational leaders, and research support to further educational reform in Delaware.
Delaware Institute for Excellence in Early Childhood
Supports the healthy growth and development of Delaware's children by providing resources, information, and training for those who care for, who care about, and who teach our children and support their families.
Early Learning Center
Offers quality child care and education for children ages 6 weeks to 12 years as well as other services for families, including assessments, intervention services and parenting education; technical assistance and training for child care providers; a laboratory for faculty and student researchers; and a hands-on learning site for undergraduate and graduate students.
English Language Institute
Prepares and supports international students and professionals in their university studies and careers through language and cultural immersion.
Institute for Public Administration
Links the resources of the University of Delaware with the management and policy information needs of public and nonprofit organizations.
Laboratory Preschool
Services over 60 children ages two to five in an inclusive early education setting. Over 100 UD students per semester receiving instruction in early childhood education, research, and human service practices in the school. The Lab School also serves as a research site for faculty conducting investigations in language development, social-personal development, curriculum implementation, and other topics.
Mathematics & Science Education Resource Center
Helps Delaware's K-12 math and science teachers implement new content and performance standards in their classrooms.
Office of Educational Technology
Works with schools, districts and inidvidual teachers with integrating technology throughout the K-12 curriculum.
The College School
Serves students in grades 1-8 who demonstrate learning, attention, mild social/emotional, and/or mild behavioral issues that may impact school success by affording opportunities to acquire academic and social skills similar to those acquired by students in traditional schools to students.
